Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat: Sound all too familiar?

Long working hours, stressful days and a serious lack of time can mean less time spent in the bedroom. Juggling friendships, work and life admin all at once can often mean it gets shoved right to the bottom of our to-do lists (excuse the pun)! And it’s only natural. You are not the only one in this position, and certainly not the last. That doesn’t mean, however, there is nothing you can do to get your sex life back into first gear.

Aphrodisiacs; is it all a myth or can they really have an impact on your sex life? Why not give these foods a try, and see for yourself…

  1. Watermelon

Not one of the most well-known aphrodisiac foods but certainly one not to be forgotten. Watermelon, which contains citrulline, helps increase blood flow. And we all know where blood flows when things get a little spicy in the bedroom.

A refreshing treat in the summer, healthy and can help to improve your libido. What’s not to love?

Why not try

Slicing your watermelon into triangles and dip into melted dark chocolate. Set in the fridge for 20 minutes, and enjoy.

 

  1. Dark Chocolate

Dark, sultry, smooth. Dark chocolate oozes sex appeal. Not to mention, most people would be happy to have a good excuse to indulge in it.

Not only is it sexy, there is scientific reasoning behind the so-called myth: the cocoa bean contains both chemicals tryptophan and phenylethylamine. The first linking to serotonin, and the latter to amphetamine which are both closely related to sexual arousal.

Why not try

Melting it. Surprise your loved one by melting chocolate and using it for foreplay. (Just make sure it’s cooled down a little first!)

 

  1. Chilli

Exuding sexiness is the classic red chilli. Red, spicy and damn hot, make sure you slip this into your diet.

Why are chillies aphrodisiacs though you may ask? Chillies stimulate nerve endings and release adrenaline into your body. You know, that kick you get when you eat something hot? Adrenalin increases your heart rate and releases endorphins into your body which mimic’s the feelings you get when you have sex.

Why not try

Making your partner a romantic, candle-lit dinner and get your heart rate pumping.

  1. Oysters

Fresh, natural oysters overlooking a costal view with a glass of wine in hand with that someone special. I am trying to think of something more romantic and enjoyable but I am struggling! To make this even more appealing, you’ll be pleased to know that oysters are one of our world’s natural aphrodisiacs. Oysters are naturally rich in zinc, which is said to boost ‘sexual competence’.

     5Avocados

Enjoy Sunday brunch, even more, this weekend by adding in sensuous avocados! It’s said that avocados are an aphrodisiac and the most obvious reason being, is because of their shape. They also naturally hang in pairs. As well as this, they are rich in vitamin E which helps to increase energy.
